Interning

I'm still here doing the Tech Guy stuff. :)

I have to say that this is a very rewarding position. The company I'm working for is small enough that I get a lot of hands on training with a lot of different aspects of a business environment.

New Additions to what I've done include:
- Port mapping for the new switches that are going to be implemented relatively soon.
- Changing the system back up tape drives.
- manually pushing updates to user PCs

I'm having a great oll time here.

Hope to keep you updated on all the new knowledge I will be imparted with soon.

Done with classes for the Spring

Yeah I'm done for the spring and am working at the Country Music Association on Internship.

I'm the Help Desk Guy :)

Its fun and exciting to be working in the real world. Even if it's only part time.

I have some current projects that are exciting me.
- I'm learning to do document writing for end users. It's going great so far.

- I'm going to help with the CMA Music Fest off site and have helped with making cables and preparing PC's for the event.

Class blog 9

Visit Hallmark Cards or Communispace website. Discuss how a company like Hallmark Cards can best benefit from communities.

Communities are a great source of inspiration for Halmark Cards. Virtual communities help Hallmark Cards gain in-site and inspiration about what their customers want to see on their card. Hallmark Cards uses contests to entice their customers to submit ideas to them. This is the current contest, http://www.hallmarkcontests.com/index.cfm.

Hallmark also has a blog to help their communities communicate between each other.

http://www.yourhallmarkcardcompetition.blogspot.com/

This is great for Hallmark and will be great for any company that wants to use customer imput to improve the product that they show to their customer.

What are the Similarities and Differences between an Artificial Neural Network (ANN) and an Expert System(ES).

My last two blogs explain these terms in more detail, but I'd like to define each of these for you so we can conceptually understand each of these terms.

An Artificial Neural Network (ANN), often just called a "neural network" (NN), is a mathematical model or computational model based on biological neural networks. It consists of an interconnected group of artificial neurons and processes information using a connectionist approach to computation.
AND

An expert system is a software program that helps an expert who is knowledgeable in a particular field. An Expert System is applied based on a bank of knowledge and a set of rules for applying the knowledge base to each particular situation that is described to the program.

Similarities
1. Both are systems designed to help define a possible outcome for the user.
2. Both systems get better as more information is imputed into their knowledge base.

Differences
1. ANN's can rely on explicit knowledge while ES's rely on implicit knowledge.

2. ANN's can solve more complex problems that other technologies cannot.

Artificial Neural Networks

1. What is an artificial neural network (ANN)?

An artificial neural network (ANN), often just called a "neural network" (NN), is a mathematical model or computational model based on biological neural networks. It consists of an interconnected group of artificial neurons and processes information using a connectionist approach to computation.

2. How to create an ANN model for a problem domain?

ANN's are created using a knowledge base about the problem. It then goes through different calculations to determine the desired output for the problem. After the knowledge base has been learned by the Neural Network it can make better decisions for the problem. If the ANN continually learns from more input into the knowledge base it has the potential to make even better decisions and make more accurate decisions for the problem.

3. How does ANN compare with expert systems? How do they differ from each other as knowledge management tools?

ANN's are important tools when explicit knowledge cannot be defined as implicit knowledge. Many Expert Systems use implicit knowledge to find the answer to any given problem. An ANN has taken hold as a system that can infer answers to problems with little implicit knowledge based on the explicit knowledge that it has.

IN Class Blog

Today in my Knowledge Management class, I am going to define what we have been talking about for the last two class sessions.

1. What is an Expert system?

Many times and expert system is called Artificial Inelegance. An expert system is effectively a software program that helps an expert who is knowledgeable in a particular field. An Expert System is applied based on a bank of knowledge and a set of rules for applying the knowledge base to each particular situation that is described to the program.

2. What are some applications of Expert System Technologies?

Many of the applications currently in place for Expert System Technologies include; systems that help with the diagnosis and treatment of patients in the health care system, schedule modeling for factories, game design and simulation was one of the first uses of expert systems.

In many ways, the use of expert systems increases the usefulness of whoever/whatever is using the system. Examples include, loan approval, medicine subscription, human resources, process control and accounting.

3. What are some strengths/benefits to be obtained from ES technology?

ES is used to make better decisions based on programed rules to assist with the best decision possible. Some of the strengths/benefits include:
1. consistency in answering repetitive decisions and tasks
2. has a knowledge base that can be improved on based on how much information is stored and usable in the system
3. asks the same questions every time making sure that each question is answered

4. What are some weaknesses/limitations of ES technology?
ES technology has some weaknesses/limitations also. An ES makes the same decision based on the circumstances that it is presented with, even if this is not the best decision possible.
1. there is a lack of common sense and creativity that a human might have used to make decisions
2. some areas of expertise may not have enough quantifiable decision processes to make an accurate ES
3. if errors occur there is no way to see that an error has been made

__________________

Expert systems are a great resource if used in the right context and has the knowledge base it uses updated in a timely manner. Being that ES technology takes the human control out of the picture, it is advisable to have some sort of "overriding" decision support from a human interface as part of the ES technology.

WoW Crack has more... Yeah

Yeah More Seige Vehicles Now in instances. I'm an adict and I admit it.

I'm iffy on this, but I LOVE the idea of duel - spec.
